about ME

I am a recently retired Latin teacher in Austin, Texas. I still have a passion for Latin pedagogy, but that has given way to a need to create art. I am learning how to make mosaics after having looked at so many from Pompeii & Herculaneum over the years.

TUTORING

I taught from the Cambridge Latin Course for 20 years, constantly evolving my teaching style to meet the needs of all students. If you are in levels 1-4 of your Latin studies, let me help you succeed. Short cuts like copying assignments and using Google translate will get you mediocre grades at best and won't help you on final exams. Get the personal attention you need to become a confident Latin student.

AP students and college undergraduates can also benefit from my approach to developing true left to right reading skills. Lower the stress of facing sight passages and begin to truly enjoy reading Latin. After all, memorizing all those endings is only the beginning. Learning how to internalize those endings and develop reading expectations will help take you to the next level.

If you would like to improve your pronunciation, I have spent a career focused on the importance of Latin being heard.

I charge $30 for the first HALF hour, with each additional half hour at $20. All tutoring will be done via Zoom until further notice. Payments can be made via PayPal.

Want a chuckle? I provided the Latin for this ad about 10 years ago. Can you find it?  It's small. Look on the badge towards the end.
